Chinese New Year Celebration
While New Year's Day for most of us is January 1st, the Chinese New Year begins every February 25th and that is a big reason to celebrate at Portsmouth's Children's Museum of Virginia. The community gathers at the museum to observe this big event that features Chinese musical instruments, songs and dance presentations that feature local students. The festival is also a great way to familiarize yourself with paper art, brush painting techniques, and the process of writing in Chinese. The event also features a chance for you to create your own traditional decorations that you can take home with you to continue the celebration!
